Things to do in Jacksonville!

With so many places to visit in the USA, it can be difficult to determine where your next journey should take you! A popular state for many RV’ers is Florida. The weather is warm, the beaches are wonderful, and most of the cities host an array of amazing attractions. One city that is sometimes overlooked is Jacksonville. There are multiple activities that will entertain the entire family. Below is a list of the popular attractions that are guaranteed to keep everyone happy and entertained.

Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens– Check out the 100’s of animals and the beautiful gardens on the property. You could easily spend a full day here, but plan for 3-4 hours. The new monkey enclosure is beautiful as you can see gorillas play, climb the rock walls and swing from the trees. You can even feed a giraffe! And on a hot day, let your little ones play in the splash pad, cool off in the movie theater and take a train ride around the zoo.

Alligator Farm– The Alligator Farm in Saint Augustine (30 minutes outside Jacksonville) is a unique place that all ages will love. When you visit, you will see 100’s of alligators big and small. Some other creatures you will discover include lemurs, sloths, turtles, snakes, parrots and so much more. Your children can even feed the alligators (from a very safe distance), run out their energy on the playground, dig for fossils and feed the ducks. If you are feeling extra adventurous you can even zip-line over the farm!

Tree Hill Nature Center- A beautiful preserve to explore with the family. Walk gorgeous trails, see some goats and chickens, and enjoy the outdoors. You can also tour the building and touch real turtles and see some baby alligators. A fun, low cost activity that the entire family will enjoy while getting a little exercise.

Kathryn Abbey Hannah Park– If you think you would like to park the RV and stay a few nights, Hannah Park in a wonderful state park with so much to do! This park includes a splash-pad, multiple playgrounds, and best of all, you can walk to the beautiful white sand beach from your campsite!

MOSH Museum– On those hot Florida days, MOSH Museum is a great way to beat the heat and have an educational experience for your family! It is the city’s most visited museum with a focus on science and local history. Some of the great features include a gorgeous outdoor plant courtyard and a fun and interactive play space for children under 5 to explore on their own.
