There is so much beauty and elegance in Portland Oregon. The landscapes are exquisite, the culture is unique, and the activities are endless. It is the perfect place for an RV family vacation. No matter how much time you spend in Portland, it never seems to be enough. To simplify your RV vacation, we have compiled a list of must see and must do activities for your family.
The City of Portland– One of the things that makes Portland unique, is the city of Portland itself. Take a walk around downtown and embrace the diverse and unique culture, the amazing food trucks and the array of shopping. You can also visit the Farmer’s market on the weekend and see what type of treasures you will find.
Children’s Museum– If you have young children, the Children’s Museum is a must! It is the perfect place on a hot day for children 8 and younger. They can experience the market and pick out their groceries, go to the vet and give fluffy a checkup. They can also experience the water playroom and spend hours splashing in water tables (make sure to bring a change of clothes!). They even have a wonderful outdoor area where you can go for a walk, have a picnic and play in the sand. It is the perfect place to spend a morning with the family.
Oregon Zoo– After a fun morning at the Children’s Museum, walk across the parking lot to the Oregon Zoo! This zoo is beautiful and perfect for all ages. The exhibits are large and clean, and there are so many animals to see. The newer Elephant exhibit is definitely a fan favorite. You can also see a variety of animals including lions, penguins, bears, giraffes and more. You can easily spend half a day wandering the grounds and exploring everything this beautiful zoo has to offer.
Multnomah Falls– Make sure to take some time and enjoy the beautiful scenic views of Multnomah Falls. Multnomah falls is the tallest of many waterfalls from the Columbia River. After viewing the falls, you can pick one of the many hiking trails to take with the family (many are dog friendly too). Just make sure to arrive early, as parking fills up quickly.
Pittock Mansion– If you would like to add some history to your Portland trip, the Pittock Mansion is the perfect place. It was built in 1914 and tells the story of the Portland’s transformation. You can participate in a guided tour or take the tour on your own. One of the best parts, is the beautiful view over the city. And children 6 and under are Free!
